SUOMI HLOUBĚTÍN

Prague 9  - Hloubětín

The construction of the SUOMI Hloubetin residential district has been changing the area of a former brownfield into modern Finnish-style housing since 2016. The complex is gradually being implemented in 10 stages. It will provide space not only for residential housing, but also for services, shops, restaurants and cafes. The construction of a kindergarten in the central square is also planned. The architectural design of the buildings are based on clean, straight lines and is designed in natural shades dominated by the colour white. As this is a district of a Finnish developer, our goal was to infuse inspiration into the architecture as well as including elements of Nordic architecture, especially into the appearance of the buildings. The names of the individual stages in the SUOMI project are named after the Finnish cities of SALO, PORVOO, LAHTI, OULU, TURKU, ESPOO, PORI, VANTAA, TAMPERE. LOXIA provided the architectural study, change of planning permit, building permits, tender documentation, execution documentation, up to and including the author's supervision. Landscape

Part of the construction of the SUOMI Hloubetin district also included the landscaping and the design of public spaces, which we completed in cooperation with landscape architects. These elements are part of a large park, where spaces with playground equipment for children will be created between the buildings. The project also effectively manages rainwater, which is retained within the landscape in accordance with the principles of Low Impact Development and is used for watering the landscape. A part of the Rokytka creek and the adjacent slopes forming the southern border of the area was also revitalized. This design was even a finalist in the ‘Adapterra Awards 2020’, which is a competition for the best idea of how to prepare Czech cities and the landscape for climate change.
